If we played Navy earlier in the year...

If we had already played and beaten Navy, and were 12-1 AAC conference champsions, that win over navy might have been enough for us to pass Boise state in the CFB discussion.

I don’t think so. Boise has only lost 1 game all year, to the current number 1 team in the county, by 3 points. Army would’ve had to have a similarly competitive game against Notre Dame to be in the discussion.

Based on the current rankings, Boise isn’t the 5th conference champ. The Big 12 champ is. That is who we would need to be ranked ahead of.

Our only chance was to at least keep the ND game close. Since we didn’t the committee can just fall back on our horrible SOS. A Navy win earlier wouldn’t have mattered. We had our shot. Honestly I think Boise States 3 point loss to Oregon has helped them more than their wins. We have to face it, we didn’t get the job done against ND.

I do not think that is correct. Conference Champs of P4 are in… SEC, B10, ACC, and B12. Then, highest ranked G5 Conference Champ gets in. Getting in, CFP rankings, and CFP seeds are not the same. We could be ranked ahead of Arizona State, but they get in and we dont. Those are the rules.

Sadly, very sadly, we NEVER get the job done against Notre Dame. We have not for the past 66 years-- 16 straight games. Yet we keep trying, trying and more trying. This year it was doubly bad as it cost us a chance to be in the playoffs. Thank the guys in charge for even scheduling a game like this. I do and see just what happened.
We went for the immediate guarantee and lost a potential pot in the national playoffs in the end. Like always, we seem to grab the present and the hell with a possible long -term result.
Example-- Spend a fortune of a stadium and don't increase the staff's salary commensurate with a power 4 school. Sale back the mortar and pay the guys who made this team the greatest in the modern era.
i did it. Why don't they NOW!!!

The top 5 conf champs are in with the top 4 rated getting a bye. It is generally assumed that the top 4 rated conf champs are the P4, but it looks like that will not be the case this year.

Nope.

Boise State has been dominant and only lost to #1 Oregon by three at their place. Notre Dame destroyed us.

We had our shot and didn't convert.

A win over a decent Navy team wouldn't have moved the needle.
