Bullets dodged but risks remain....
Though this has of course been a stellar year for Army Football, the architect of the resurgence, Coach Monken, is open to a move and remains a flight risk.
The good news (for Army fans) is the Purdue and UCF positions went to others, Odom and Frost respectively.
The bad is that the UNC and West Virginia jobs remain open. UNC seems surprisingly focused on ex Patriots Coach Belichick, but if that falls through, per this and other reports, JM would apparently be in the mix there.

JM's name is also mentioned for the UWV job but per this piece and others, is not a front runner there:

Obviously other jobs will open up that we can sweat through...

I would place the likelihood of WVU hiring Monken at somewhere around 0.1%. That fan base will revolt if they hire an "option guy" even if he promises to not run the option

Agreed, WVU is a long shot, but with the chance that Belichick is using his interest in UNC simply as leverage to try to secure an NFL job and with Tulane's coach and a a current Steeler's assistant coach taking themselves out of contention, could be that the UNC job is the big one to worry about to lure JM away.
Also, some nerds who are way into this stuff say a private jet to and from White Plains to NC is flying JM in for an in person interview to follow up the already conducted remote meeting....ugh....

Re: Bullets dodged but risks remain....
One has to wonder if the events of the past week will have any influence on his thinking. A magical season finishing off the first year in the AAC by winning the championship game in Michie in front of 14K freezing fans. I know there any many factors that came into play - late starting time on a Friday evening, logistical issues getting to WP on less than a weeks notice, the weather etc, etc. Is there any reason to believe that any of that will change when Army gets to host the game in the future?
To cap it off with an invite to Shreveport to play Marshall is enough to make anyone who has a goal of competing for the NC grounds for serious introspection.
Agree re: concentrating on the task at hand. Make the strongest statement possible vs. Navy and Marshall and let the chips fall where they may.

I really hope JM stays, but if he goes best of luck to him. His work at Army has been amazing.

West Virginia media reports now say the choice there is down to 3, former WVU head coach Rich Rodriquez, USFL coach Anthony Becht and Monken.

Annoying that these rumor are circulating this week but that comes with the territory of having success.
Hopefully we have a Plan in our back pocket should he leave. I know folks on here mentioned bohanon previously. He is currently without a job.

Monken is up for a job every year and doesn’t get it. I assume he’s either a bad interview or no one wants to be the one to take the risk. I don’t think he’ll leave. He gets paid over $2.3 million with job security.

Is woody a flight risk? My assumption was yes, but not sure if him being 63 is a factor for him.

I am certain Woody can go wherever he wants. His protégé just left for Texas Tech leaving a DC opening at Houston. Kansas also has a DC opening and I could see him at either places.
