Good for Drinkall, that is a surprising hire but I’m happy for him. After seeing the houses the coaches live in on post during the game on Saturday I’m surprised anyone sticks around.

Army along with Oregon and Texas finalists for award of best offensive line. Drinkall this year had that responsibility too. He had a major impact there. Who is next coach up for O- line?

Viti is the o-line coach, Drinkall is assistant o-line from what I’ve been told.

What does that tell you?

You pay your coaches commensurate with other top-flight schools and not spend 200 million on a memorial tha that does the program no damn good. WP has some strange priorities It smacks of administration and their own convoluted legacy.
Pay these guys for a 5- year deal, then let it shake out with Monken when Monken retires after giviing Monken the same commensurate salary as any power 4 school and stop with the brick and mortar shit.

Stop adulating these coaches for moving and give them the money now.
My take. I did it. These guys can have it both ways. Money now , head coach later. They are all young enough to persue future goals.

Don't be pansy-asses . Fight to retain them. Wake up. Think of OUR program for a change, Will-you???
Are you suggesting Army should pay the O-Line coach over $1MM annually? Or are you suggesting that a guy shouldn't pursue a d1 HC job in favor of remaining an OL coach?
Yes I am. CMU is a dead end job. It will be for Drinkall in 3 years and whoosh, he is history. My opinion. Nobody EVER looks down the road. Jump at anything. Its NOW, NOW, NOW. Patience. Pick your spot. Improve your craft. It will eventually pay off. That is the trouble with young pups today. Climb a steady ladder and not one that already has a crack in it like some of these directional schools.

Brian Kelly got the Cincinnati job based on his success at CMU. He then went from Cincinnati to Notre Dane, and is now at LSU.

Butch Jones took over for Kelly, then went to Cincinnati, then got the job at Tennessee.

I'm confused ... he doesn't want this to be all about greed and money ... but wants to pay the coaches? Where is the money going to come from? Wouldn't that make joining a conference and getting money from the conference a good thing?
Actually No. The money comes from the generous grads, and fans of WP instead of giving money to a grandiose and egotistical renovation that could be pared down to some sort of sanity for the keeping the coaches right here. Simple thought and simple answer.
What the hell does JM think? He looks at a stadium that WP just built for 200 M and he gets a shit of a salary compared to other power 4 schools. No wonder why he contemplates a move every year.
Will you guys wake the hell up and stop congratulating these guys for temporary self-adulation to a place that is barely alive? Shit, I get tired of this crap.
You got a great staff now. NOW KEEP 'EM !!!

Again, twice in the last 20 years, coaches have used that specific school to move to Cincinnati, and then gotten the Notre Dame and Tennessee jobs, respectively.

We’re now complaining about assistant coaches taking Head Coaching jobs at other schools, which has been around as long as assistant coaches have existed. Like we’re not even complaining about things going back to how they used to be now, we’re complaining about the way things have been forever.

No assistant coach is ever going to come be on your staff if you make it a policy to block assistants from taking Head Coaching jobs somewhere else, “5 year contract” or no, it’s just not how it works, and never has. Sometimes guys decide to stay, but it’s the exception, and it’s almost always their decision for one reason or another, not because the school or team threw money at them to stay in their current role.

Will Drinkall stay to coach at Army Navy? Given the improvement on the offensive line from last year to this year he appears to have made a significant impact on the line and players as offensive line up for best line in the country and Lucas Scott winning recognition as best offensive lineman. Hopefully, Drinkall is there tomorrow and lessons absorbed by Viti and others
