Re: Final Ranking
The good thing about sport history is that while there is no chance under god's green earth Army was the 21st best team in the country (I mean we got destroyed by Navy and they weren't even ranked0....in a few years no one will remember that and all we will remember is that Army finished the year 21st.

Re: Final Ranking
True.
That being said, Ohio State won the national championship while losing to their rival (who got less votes than Navy did on the final poll). Every team in the country had at least one bad game. We had twelve good ones and that was way more than anyone thought we would have.
This team sure gave me a lot of great Saturdays this year and has some players on it that I won’t forget.

Re: Final Ranking
The rankings have never been about who the theoretical best team is on the field…ie the one that would be favored to win in a neutral field matchup. The rankings are about most deserving. If you want to rank the “best” teams, don’t play any games and just evaluate talent and rank them. The games don’t matter if that’s all you’re trying to measure. If the games matter, then win-loss records matter and a 12 win Army team who won a conference championship is deserving of a national ranking. Doesn’t mean Army would be favored over every team ranked below them. But that’s true of every team in the rankings.wpgrad wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 11:22 am The good thing about sport history is that while there is no chance under god's green earth Army was the 21st best team in the country (I mean we got destroyed by Navy and they weren't even ranked0....in a few years no one will remember that and all we will remember is that Army finished the year 21st.

Re: Final Ranking
Just an awesome season....and after years and years of the national championship game being decided by voters, we got to see an actual playoff where the two best teams earned their way to the championship matchup

Re: Final Ranking
Congratulations to the Team & entire Program for an outstanding season!
Here are the ballots of the coaches.
FWIW, Coach Monken ranked Army 19th and Navy 25th.
