I agree that the game was more violent 20-30 years ago. But….players are way bigger stronger faster. If we played with 1980 rules i think we’d see deaths in games
I doubt you'd see deaths. More injuries? Maybe. You'd definitely would see fewer points though. And fans hate fewer points. Had several texts Saturday from friends who watched and also bet on the game. The lack of scoring drives "FANS" nuts. But fans pay money and money drives things. So I get that. But the game at its core is meant to be violent and dangerous. That aspect is one of the key things that separates it from every other sport other than say boxing or car racing.
