Monken Wake Forest
As somebody who thinks monken interviewing last week negatively impacted the team’s morale and performance… And I am sick of the annual rumor possibilities… But all that said…..the Wake Forest job is now open and I think this is the one that he will actually get and take.

Re: Monken Wake Forest
Hate to say it, but it's probably a very good fit for him ... Clawson staying on to raise $$, JM could learn the ins and outs of NIL from him for a few years.
And not a ton of pressure to succeed.
Clawson made $3.6M, so it would be a pretty good raise. And better weather to boot.

Re: Monken Wake Forest
Seriously hope you are wrong but agree with the logic. I’m gonna be devil’s advocate here and say no. Here’s my reasoning:
1. WF is a middle to bottom tier ACC school with no CFP pedigree. Monken says he wants to coach for a CFP championship and, well, ain’t gonna happen in Winston Salem.
2. Ego - Just don’t see Monken leaving on the low of getting smoked by the squids.
3. Next season is more likely and if a job like Florida State opens (surprised it didn’t this year) I’d see that as an ideal fit based on all he’s said when asked about the coaching carousel.
This is one time I truly hope my optimistic logic is correct.

After the 70 points WF hung on Army in Michie, they probably won't ask him to bring his DC along with him.

Re: Monken Wake Forest
Agree with everything except #1 ... he's not going to get hired by a team that could play for the CFP without some non-option offense success. His next step needs to be a stepping stone to the next level.GO 150s 87 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2024 6:28 pm Seriously hope you are wrong but agree with the logic. I hate to say it, but I think Army is going to have a rough year next year. Our offensive production against AF wasn't particularly impressive, and I think that we can expect more of the same next year. So this is the year for JM to cash in.

I hope that he goes. It is obvious that the Army job no longer satisifies him, and I believe that his job hunting will negatively impact recruiting. Like George Welch, Paul Johnson, and Ken Nuimatalolo, good service academy coaches move on.

Navy found and hired multiple better coaches than Monken.
