Week 9 Service Academy Football Predictions

Will Navy hold off Temple?

Navy and flags

Ugh. Just a bad week Army and Air Force are off on Saturday the week before they face each other, so it will be down solely to if I can figure out Navy (which I likely cannot).

Week Results: 1-2.

Closest Pick: Army 38, UL Monroe 21. The Actual was Army 48, UL Monroe 24. The only prediction I got right, and 13 points off of the total isn’t horrible.

Worst Pick: Air Force 31, Boise State 24. The actual was Boise State 19, Air Force 14. This feels worse than missing on Houston beating Navy because I thought I was being conservative with just predicting the Falcons +7.

Season Results: 11-7 (61%). Last week I was at 67%. At least it is not 67% anymore…

Temple @ Navy – The 2-5 Owls and 2-5 Midshipmen share equal records coming into this matchup in Annapolis. This (weirdly) is the Mids’ last home game of the season as the Navy is the only team in the entire FBS not to play on their own turf in the month of November. Temple is a team that Navy has had the better of over the last few seasons. They won 38-14 last year on the road and held serve 31-29 in a 2020 (Covid season) home game.

E.J. Warner – the son of Kurt Warner – has passed for just over 1,200 yards with seven touchdowns and seven picks for the Owls. This is not an attack that scores in bunches – their high score for the year was 30 points against Lafayette – and if Navy gets the ground game going, then the Mids will roll. Navy 38, Temple 14.
