Army football hosts Morgan State on Saturday at Michie Stadium. Here are your three keys to an Army win over Morgan State.
Key 1 – Don’t overlook Morgan State
It would be easy to look at Morgan State schedule and automatically assume that Army will blow out the Bears. However, what if Morgan State players have been well trained at stopping the option? That’s why the Black Knights need to take Morgan State seriously. The triple is a tool that allows teams with less athletic talent to compete with the big boys. On the same token, an undermanned team that knows how to contain the option can cause those opponents problems.
Key 2 – Stop DeAndre Harris
DeAndre Harris is a 6-foot-4, 210 pound quarterback for Morgan State. He came off the bench against the FCS’s No. 2 team and completed 11-of-23 passes
for 253 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Harris is not listed as the starter this week but you can bet he’ll see action against Army at some point.
Key 3 – Avoid injuries
It’s very likely Army’s going to win this game. If it is practical and doesn’t endanger the Black Knight’s chances of getting the victory, Army should get backups in the game to avoid losing starters to injuries. There are nine, probably 10 games, remaining on the Army schedule after Morgan State. The Cadets need to have every available starter to aid in the quest to get to a bowl game and win the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy. It also makes sense to get young players some game experience for down the road when they do have to get into a game to replace an injured starter.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 3:30 pm ET. Watch on the CBS Sports Network.
